  Thallus crustose, whitish to pale glaucous to dull olive-grey, adnate, effuse, very thin, mostly 20–40 µm thick, unstratified, not delimited, ecorticate, in small irregular colonies that coalesce to form patches to 5 (–10) cm wide. Soredia very fine, vivid lemon-yellow to yellow-orange, initially in punctiform soralia, soon becoming diffuse and forming cushions to 0.5 mm thick, composed of ±spherical granules 8–30 µm wide. Medulla not apparent. Photobiont cells ±globose, 5–8 µm wide, mostly aggregated in clumps. Apothecia not seen.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K+ orange-red, C+ orange, P– or P+ yellow, UV–; containing xantho-lepinone A (major), atranorin (major, minor or trace), xantholepinone X (minor), unknown eumitrin derivative (minor).
     
  This endemic species is known from N.S.W., Vic. and Tas.; grows on the bark of trees and on dead wood in wet Eucalyptus forest and temperate rainforest.
